Parents’ Guide

POSTED ON THURSDAY 4 OCTOBER

Parents of Darlington and beyond, there are Jabberwocky Market pop-up events especially for you this week.

The Jabberer suggests Saturday 6 October, have an early lunch then wrap your 7-12 year olds into the car, or get on the Northern train to Shildon, and visit Ground Control, an immersive interactive show from 1-2pm. (Booking advised)

Back into Darlington, bring your 0-10 year olds to Polam for a fun BIG Little Gigs with vintage swing band Ragtime Rewind from 3-4pm – or send the children with their grandparents for a special ticket rate, bring along a great-grandparent for free.

If you have time earlier in the morning, or if children aren’t your thing, then drop into Darlington Covered Market anytime between 10am-4pm to explore The Quest for the Perfect Shirt with artist/tailor, Richard Bliss.

Have a quick dinner back at home or at one of the wonderful Darlington eateries and leave the children with a sitter, so you can get back to Polam for the fascinating Facebook Saved Our Baby at 7pm and find out why the Wolf Close team have travelled all the way from Devon to tell you how they fixed their daughter’s chronic eczema – this one is free to book and you can Pay What You Decide on the way out.

Head to the Jabberbar for a short break and then go back in for the Grandad Cabaret, Rendezvous in Bratislava from 8pm, including an interval and, we’ve just heard, free Slovak snacks and prosecco.
