Finding connections and creating a Community Songbook with people in communities along the route of the Bishop Line railway, spring 2022

Luxi and the Bishop Line Community Rail Partnership are working with Northern, supported by Cross Country Rail, Arts Council England, County Durham Community Foundation and Durham County Council and people of all ages to connect and co-create. Joined by the National Lottery Jubilee Community Fund & Greenfield Arts we’re celebrating the ideas & stories that co-created our Community Songbook.

on Wednesday 22 June 2022 we gathered some of the groups and artists together at Locomotion, Shildon to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee & share our SongBook of CONNECTIONS ft. Em Whitfield Brooks, children & teachers from schools across the area, Tim Crawshaw as the train guard, speeches from key collaborators and the first public airing of our songs, Hurry Up Train, Make A Connection & Sweet Hope

  • Em Whitfield Brooks : lead songwriter

    Em is a singer, songwriter, choral leader, theatre maker, writer, ex-clown, voice coach, life coach, creative facilitator and meditator.

    “Although I wear a lot of hats, it all comes down to the same things for me: presence, expression, connection, reflection, truth, beauty and freedom.

    and my question is always the same: what is happening now?

    I work inclusively with people to help them find, and own, their voice, their power, their story and their artistry.”

  • Michelle Tripp : lead visual artist

    Michelle has an active artistic practice. Making, exhibiting and selling art internationally.

    In her extensive ( long ) artistic life she has worked widely in the community.

    Sharing her skills with all age ranges and abilities.

    Her skill set is large, including ( but not exclusively ) ceramics, textiles, painting/drawing, digital art, installation, curation, sculpture, animation.

    Describing herself as a facilitator, allowing individual’s creativity to grow.

  • Humira Imtiaz : digital associate

    Humira is a Playwright, Director, Facilitator & Creative Technologist; as well as Assistant Producer, Co-Facilitator, Schools Project Co-ordinator and Creative Technologist. Humira has been involved in many productions in the North East and has recently worked as a Digital Stage Manager and Produced.
