Jade Byrne: Spring 2018 Artist in Residence

POSTED ON SATURDAY 14 APRIL

As a regular visitor to Jabberwocky Market pop-up theatre events you’re probably already really familiar with Jade Byrne (aka Jade Sloan); she’s been an active Jabberer and important member of the event team since season 3 in 2014 and she’s often been seen on stage in various events and scratch performances.

More recently Jade has started working on her own show, Pricks,  a solo story about the Type 1 diabetes she and many others live with daily. In summer 2016 we started to support Jade to make her show; last year she worked with Shannon Yee from Reassembled, Slightly Askew to write it and since then she’s gone on to get it funded and produced with a team of great theatre makers. Later this year, after a whole month at Edinburgh Fringe, she’s going on to tour it around the country.

We love that in the wake of all this success and hard work, she gets to be our very first Artist in Residence – you might also hear her voice in your ears as part of Our Line on the train from Darlington to Bishop Auckland, and she’s hosting a conversation at ALL NEW Weekend about the making of her show. Keep your eyes out here for some blogs from Jade and make sure you book to see her show on Saturday 23 June.

Jade said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing the last of my Edinburgh previews of Pricks to ALL NEW Weekend. Jabberwocky Market is where my idea for Pricks was born and it’s wonderful to be able to show my home town the show it has become. xxx”
