Friday 27 March 2015
Quaker Meeting House (& Festival Bar across the road at Voodoo Café)
Jabberwocky Market is a festival of world- class small-scale theatre in venues around Darlington, produced by Luxi ltd and Battersea Arts Centre, as part of the Collaborative Touring Network, core funded by Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Fund and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Our aim is to bring world-class theatre to the doorsteps of people who would otherwise have to travel and to introduce new types of theatre to the audiences and non-attenders of the town. The festival’s core audience groups are 16-24s, 50+ and families, as well as bringing professional theatre makers together in Darlington. We consult closely with our audiences in all aspects of the festival and it is of central importance that the programme of work speaks in some way to one or more of these audience groups.
After two sell-out Scratch Nights in 2014, the evening has become an established part of the festival programme, and a firm favourite with our audiences. The event will be ticketed and we are inviting audience members to pay what they can on their way out. We are now looking for 4/5 artists to share progress of their work in development.
If you have any questions before the application deadline (Monday 2 March), please contact the Information line on 07583 655018 or email [email protected] and we are happy to discuss your ideas and answer questions.
We look forward to your application and will be in touch by 9 March.
