Our Line

Friday 6 November - Friday 31 December

an app based audio play by Hannah Bruce & Co

“I never met my great grandmother Nora, but she hovers around the edges of my mother’s memory. A tiny woman, she died when my mam was about 7.  She remembers her baby teeth coming out at the time.”

Our Line brings you the real and imagined stories of the people from towns along the Bishop Line, in exactly the time it takes a train to go from Darlington to Bishop Auckland.

Get a ticket, follow its instructions to download the app and relax into their world through your headphones.

You will also have access to a Bonus track, a companion piece for the story Our Line. It includes excerpts from interviews with volunteers from Darlington and towns along the Bishop Line, who kindly helped us to research the content. We looked at old photographs, talked about how Darlington used to be, and reminisced about train journeys. These stories are really alive and personal.

In Conversation about Our Line, the recording of a public conversation with the team and audience members, held online in December 2020 (captions available via youtube).

Letters to Nora after you listen to the show you’re invited to make a message to one of the characters, in any style you like (write it, draw it, video it, anything) and send it over to us here. After Christmas we’ll start sharing the letters.
