ODDMANOUT is a new writing theatre company rooted in Darlington and creating in the North East and beyond. We make plays that demand to be told and theatre with storytelling at its heart. ODDMANOUT aims to support new writing and make theatre that promises to ‘challenge and surprise’, asks questions of its audience and engage through the theatre we produce.

Jabberwocky Markets are Darlington’s award-winning theatre events that pop up in sometimes surprising places.  Produced by Luxi in partnership with Battersea Arts Centre as part of the Collaborative Touring Network, the programme is supported by Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Foyle Foundation & Unlimited Impact.

Jabberwocky Markets bring world-class theatre to the doorsteps of local people.  We focus especially on audiences at a stage of transition and consult closely with our audiences in all aspects of the festival; it is of central importance that the programme of work speaks to one or more of these audience groups.

After sell-out Scratch Nights in previous festivals, the event has become an established part of the programme and a firm favourite with our audiences. This season’s event is produced in partnership with ODDMANOUT, focusing on new writing and the overarching theme of Truth & Compassion.  It will be ticketed and we are inviting audience members to pay what they decide on their way out.  We are now looking for 3 artists or companies to share progress of their work in development.

For more information, see this season’s programme at and for links to social media and blogs see .  (Details will be updated before 1/9/16)
